This medal is a commemorative piece made to mark the 25th anniversary of the Northwest German Lottery in 1980. It is in gem uncirculated condition, complete with it’s presentation case and paperwork.
The obverse (I’m guessing here) shows an abstract geometric shape (possibly a rose) on either side of the dates 1955 – 1980. The legend around the upper rim reads “Dad Gluck hat Geburtstag” from 10:00 to 2:00 and “25 Jahre Nordwestlotto” from 8:00 to 4:00.
On the reverse, there’s a scene reminiscent of Middle Ages and Renaissance era iconography (perhaps a restrike of an older pattern?). There appears to be a man drawing sticks (or keys) out of 2 clay jars on either side of him. The legend reads “FORTV NA PA RIT” from 6:00 to 3:00 & “GA DIVM” from 5:00 to 7:00″.
